About INDB
INDB, the Internet News Database, puts the same story from hundreds of outlets side by side, so you can see who is covering it, who is not, and how they tell it.
Internet News Database (INDB)
INDB is a news aggregation platform built to help readers find their way through today's media. With so much news, so many filter bubbles and so many outlets, INDB shows not just what is happening, but how different outlets are covering the same story.
Our mission
Our mission is to promote media literacy and informed news reading by showing many perspectives on the same story. Understanding media bias is not about avoiding certain sources. It is about knowing how different editorial perspectives shape the news you read.
Why INDB matters
Most people only see news that fits what they already think. Social media algorithms and personalised feeds build filter bubbles that reinforce those views. INDB breaks through them by showing the full range of coverage on every story.
Key features
- Multi-source clustering. Articles from different outlets about the same event are grouped into one story.
- Coverage by lean. Every story shows how many left, centre and right outlets are covering it, and coverage gaps show the stories one side is mostly ignoring.
- Bias and reliability ratings. Every outlet is rated for lean and reliability, and each rating says where it came from.
- Analysis tools. Narrative Imbalance, the Coverage Heat Map, the Misinfo Radar, the Amplification Detector, Compare Sources and the Influence Map.
- Your own feeds. Build feeds by topic, source, country and reliability.
How it works
INDB monitors hundreds of news sources around the world and groups articles about the same events together. Each story shows its coverage by political lean, how varied its sources are, and warning flags for content that may be a problem.
What it does not do
INDB does not write news and does not copy articles. Every headline links to the outlet that published it. Stories are ranked by coverage, never by clicks.
Who runs it
INDB 2.5 is developed by Nemico I.T. Consulting and is part of the NEMICO Network, alongside nemico.co, rPanel and Townapedia. One NEMICO account signs you in to all of them.
